Each week, we’ll poll employees here and readers out in the blogosphere about some of their recommendations for food, drink, music and/or entertainment to indulge in over the weekend. Blogger Dave Choate is your guide to all things relaxing in this post.
Four Times The Fun With The Final Four
I’ve given up talking about my bracket, given its rapid descent into failure, but that doesn’t mean the tournament isn’t worth following. With two Cinderella teams trying to avoid turning back into pumpkins in the form of Butler and Virginia Commonwealth University, it’s also more intriguing than in recent years.
The games start just past 6 and just past 8:45 p.m. on Saturday night. I suggest plunking down with a cold beer—tried Switchback yet?—and watching them.
Let’s Go Out To The Movies
Given that we’re still getting snow up here in the Northeast, it might not be the best weekend for getting outside and embracing the so-called “spring” we’ve been enjoying. There are a lot of decent films either already out or opening this weekend, as Rotten Tomatoes can attest.
Among the highly-rated films out right now are the animated Rango, the off-the-wall alien comedy Paul, drama The Lincoln Lawyer and thriller Source Code.
The kids might enjoy Hop, the new Easter-centric animated film by DreamWorks, but it’s getting killed by critics. Be forewarned, and bring plenty of cash for popcorn.
If you’re still looking to sift through quality pranks and hoaxes from April Fool’s, you need to start with Google, who put together a pair of brilliant videos that you can find links to at Mashable. Google also had some font fun, with searches for Helvetica and Comic Sans changing the font on the popular search engine to an irritating, loopy scrawl.
My personal favorite has to be hulu.com, which re-skinned its website in a style that will be familiar to anyone who lived through the days of dial-up Internet.
Share your favorites with us in the comments, as well as any great ideas for future weekends.
