Happy Monday, everybody! Thanks for joining us here at BizEngine.

I want to take a little time to explore how you can ensure your small business matters to the neighborhood, the community and the entire city where you work every day. Sometimes, it’s easier said than done.

So I want to get just a bit more specific than our friendly guest blogger Brandon Serna did last week.

If my mind, there are three great ways to raise your business profile in any town, city, hamlet or moon base. Let me know how many of these already feature in your small business marketing plans!

Three Ways To Be More Visible

  1. Build a quality website. I’ll harp on this until the day I die. Companies with quality websites get more eyeballs, which translates into more foot traffic and ultimately into more sales. That’s particularly true because the grand majority of young and middle-aged shoppers are going online to at least read up on businesses, even those in their local communities. You should also maintain a social media presence to reach the young and tech-savvy amongst your customer base. Doesn’t heart to have a quality blog for your small business marketing efforts, either.
    Get a good website.
  2. Get out in the community. The best publicity is free publicity. Sponsor a Little League team, volunteer at local charities and offer yourself up to the local paper as a businessperson to speak with about national trends. The more visible you are—assuming you aren’t out there saying incredibly dumb things—the more trustworthy you are, and the more customers you should attract.
  3. The old-fashioned way. This actually means more than one thing. We’re talking about traditional advertising, flyers, having a big ol’ sign out in front of the shop…really anything that businesses would have done in the 1970′s to promote themselves. I put this third on the list because these methods are not quite as effective as they used to be, and some of them can be more expensive.

If you mix and match these as you see fit, you should have more customers checking out your business in relatively short order.

What method have you found to be most effective?
